I’m pleased to say that the Home Building Compensation Fund review is now well under way, with a consultation open to the public. If you’re a builder, a stakeholder or thinking about home renovations be sure to have your say about the Home Building Compensation Scheme before 11 November 2024.
I’m proud of the work that our Investigations and Enforcement team are doing to ensure the schemes we regulate are protecting the people who need them most. As a result of a recent SIRA investigation, a person who deliberately deceived the CTP Scheme has been successfully prosecuted.
In other news, we recently launched a Workers compensation open data portal, which offers real-time insights into the scheme’s effectiveness, efficiency, affordability and equity. It’s a true testament to our ongoing commitment to transparent and customer-focused reporting.
This commitment is also why we publish our Quarterly Regulatory Report, to keep you informed about our regulatory actions with insurers, employers, healthcare providers and other entities. Our latest reports are available here.

The latest indexed adjustments to workers compensation benefits are now available and applied from 1 October 2024.
Indexed adjustments to motor accident benefits from 1 October 2024
From 1 October 2024, changes apply to legal costs and medico-legal fees, weekly benefits, and damages payable under the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017, and damages payable for non-economic and economic loss for the Motor Accidents Act 1988 and the Motor Accidents Compensation Act 1999.
Update to the AMA List of Medical Services and Fees (AMA Fees List) 1 November 2023 - effective 6 August 2024
The update includes changes to Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery items introduced to the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) on 1 July 2023, along with new Level E General Practitioner (GP) attendance items introduced to the MBS on 1 November 2023.
