New Deputy Chair and two independent members for the SIRA Board

SIRA is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Deputy Chair and independent members to the SIRA Board.

Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Jihad Dib has appointed a new Deputy Chair and independent members to the board of the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA).

Helen Rowell has been appointed as the next Deputy Chair of the SIRA Board.

Ms Rowell joined the Board in July 2024 and replaces outgoing Deputy Chair Nancy Milne OAM. Ms Rowell also serves as Chair of the SIRA Board sub-committee, the Compulsory Third Party Premium Committee.

Ms Rowell was formerly Deputy Chair of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority and is currently on the Boards of the Australian Retirement Trust and Mental Health Australia.

Lynelle Briggs AO and The Hon Dr John Della Bosca AM have been appointed as new independent members of the Board.

Ms Briggs brings a wealth of experience across the Australian public service, spanning the transport, maritime, social policy, health, emergency services and employment sectors.

Ms Briggs previously served as the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Transport and Regional Services, as the Australian Public Service Commissioner, and was appointed a Commissioner of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. She is a former Chief Executive of Medicare.

Dr Della Bosca joins the SIRA Board having previously acted as the National Campaign Director for the “Every Australian Counts” campaign lobbying for the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. He currently chairs the boards of Family Drug Support Australia, Disability Intermediaries Association and Grow Australia.

He previously held senior ministerial roles with the NSW Government.
