This month, public consultation began on the draft regulations and guidelines for the Workers Compensation Scheme legislative amendments. Feedback is now invited and can be provided through the NSW Government Have your say platform until 15 May 2026. These submissions will help to inform the finalisation of the regulation, guidelines and other related forms.
SIRA has also taken important regulatory action to uphold the integrity and performance of the schemes we oversee. This includes a significant prosecution outcome resulting in the first custodial sentence for fraud in the Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Scheme, as well as the imposition of special licence conditions on NRMA Insurance.
These actions reflect our commitment to address issues that undermine confidence in our schemes. Strong and visible regulation is essential to making sure people with an injury receive the support they need, and that our schemes operate fairly and as intended.
In addition, this issue shares a range of updates including changes to medical fees, the latest insurer performance insights, and improvements to the visibility of our research information, data and activities.
SIRA’s work remains focused on maintaining trust, transparency and accountability across the NSW personal injury schemes.
