CTP Care

CTP Care is administered by the Lifetime Care and Support Authority (LCSA) in the NSW Compulsory Third Party (CTP) scheme under the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017.

CTP Care provides statutory benefits for treatment and care for people injured in a motor accident in NSW from 1 December 2017, and have treatment and care needs five years or longer after their accident.

CTP Care will take responsibility for the payment of treatment and care statutory benefits from December 2022, or earlier by agreement in some cases.

SIRA is working closely with LCSA and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.

Eligibility and transition

  • An injured person is eligible if they have treatment and care needs five years or longer after their motor accident.
  • The CTP insurer and CTP Care will work together to determine an injured person’s eligibility to transition to CTP Care.
  • The CTP insurer will provide notification about eligibility six months before the transition takes place, and again at two weeks before the transition.
  • For early transition to CTP Care, notification is provided two weeks before the agreed date of transition.
  • Any transition to CTP Care will not impact on an injured person’s ongoing entitlements to a claim for damages, weekly payments of statutory benefits (up to five years from the date of the motor accident), or treatment and care.
