Getting treatment

Health professionals like doctors, physiotherapists, chiropractors and osteopaths can support you in your recovery.

Getting professional help

Many people recover well from injuries with support from health professionals like doctors, physiotherapists, chiropractors and osteopaths.

If you need assistance with your recovery, your first step should be to consult your doctor.

You can also speak with your doctor, employer or insurer about receiving assistance from a workplace rehabilitation provider.

Detailed information on accessing treatment is available in the worker compensation claims management guide.

How to maximise your recovery

  • Engage actively in your treatment and rehabilitation.
  • Seek treatment early, follow your health professional’s advice and discuss alternative options if you’re not improving.
  • For complex cases, you may see multiple health professionals who will collaborate with you, your family, your workplace and the insurer to coordinate your recovery plan.
  • Ensure all parties share information and work together to meet your recovery goals.
  • Your employer and insurer will talk to you about providing consent to share information to assist with your recovery.

More information on supporting your recovery can be found on our recovery through work page.
