Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act comes into effect

26 February 2026

The Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act (No 2) 2025 commenced on 18 February 2026.

The Act:

  • amends the definition of ‘medical dispute’ in section 7.17 of the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017 to ensure that it includes disputes determined by way of merit reviews to resolve ambiguity in the legislation
  • corrects a typographical error in section 62(1)(b) of the Motor Accidents Compensation Act 1999 by replacing the reference to the President with reference to the Commission
  • inserts a requirement in section 26E of the State Insurance and Care Governance Act 2015 to allow the Guidelines for the Provision of Relevant Services (Health and Related Services) to be Gazetted and specifies the day on which the guidelines take effect.

The Statute Law Revision (SLR) program allows legislative amendments to be made that are non-controversial and contain no more than minor policy changes. A Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill is prepared for the Budget and Spring sittings of Parliament each year.
