State Insurance Regulatory Authority and Personal Injury Commission Memorandum of Understanding

The NSW State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) and the Personal Injury Commission (the Commission) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for engagement, cooperation and information sharing between the two agencies.
The Commission is an independent statutory tribunal which resolves disputes between people injured in motor accidents and workplaces, employers and insurers in New South Wales.
Cooperation between SIRA and the Commission in sharing data and information is essential for both agencies to carry out their statutory objectives and functions.
In drafting the MoU, SIRA and the Commission obtained a Privacy Impact Assessment to evaluate the privacy impacts of sharing information between the two agencies. The recommendations made in the assessment were incorporated into the MoU.
