Special conditions imposed on the Ventia Australia Pty Ltd workers compensation licence

SIRA has imposed special licence conditions on Ventia’s workers compensation self-insurer licence in response to poor compliance and claims management practices.

SIRA has conducted a recent audit following self-audits and claim file reviews that identified issues with compliance and case management practices.

In response, SIRA has imposed the following licence conditions on the self-insurer:

• The licensee must implement the Remediation Plan received 30 May 2023 as approved by SIRA in accordance with the timescales in that Plan and provide SIRA with a monthly update on implementation of that Plan within 10 business days of the end of each month until the finalisation of the Plan.
• The licensee must develop and/or update and implement a quality assurance program to monitor the effectiveness of its Remediation Plan and claims management compliance and performance. The licensee must provide SIRA with the monthly reports of the quality assurance program results within 10 business days from the end of each month until advised otherwise by SIRA.

SIRA will continue to closely supervise the performance of Ventia over the licence term, and specifically the adherence to the special licence conditions.
