SIRA issues direction to health service provider

19 December 2023

SIRA has issued a direction on health service provider, Mr David Kaye (aka Ali Davut Sarikaya) in accordance with the legislative powers introduced by the State Insurance and Care Governance Amendment Regulation 2022.

On 5 September 2023, Mr David Kaye and associated ABNs including Karmacan Pty Ltd (ABN 78 627 142616) and Karmalot Pty Ltd (ABN 71 149 377 999) was issued a section 26D (1)(d) direction to not provide any relevant services, for example counselling and psychological services, for the purposes of the workers compensation and motor accident legislation. This includes any practitioner delivering services to injured people under the workers compensation and CTP Schemes for the associated businesses.

A direction can be issued to a provider who has been referred to, or is under investigation by a clinical, professional or accreditation body. SIRA uses the power to issue directions to make sure the providers practices are in line with the objectives of the workers compensation or motor accident legislation.

SIRA publishes information about directions issued to relevant service providers under Section 26D of the State Insurance and Care Governance Act 2015 in a public register. The register is intended to inform the public and stakeholders about the fact that directions have been issued and protect the integrity of the personal injury schemes.
