SIRA has been focusing on supporting the implementation of the NSW Government's workers compensation reforms many of which commenced from 1 July 2026. Our focus has been on keeping stakeholders informed, and providing the information for people who are injured, their employers and insurers to apply the changes. We are also preparing for further changes that will come into effect in October 2026 with the introduction of new reasonable and necessary provisions for treatment, and changes to commutations.
In this edition, I share the outcomes of the consultation on the Workers Compensation Regulation, Guidelines and supporting materials which were key to supporting commencement.
SIRA is actively engaging with our key stakeholders including unions, the NSW business community, insurers and health providers monitor the early experience of claimants following the reform and to educate the regulated community about changes to their obligations.
This Bulletin also shares the latest NSW CTP Scheme Innovation Report, which showcases insurer-led innovations that contribute to delivering on the objects of the NSW Motor Accident Injury Act 2017.
SIRA is also very pleased to announce the recent appointment of the new Chief Executive, Ms Megan Main, who will commence in the role on 12 October 2026.
Thank you to all the stakeholders who continue to engage with our work and provide us with feedback, this is a key support to our role in regulating NSW's workers compensation, CTP and home building compensation schemes and improving results in those schemes for the people who need them.

New SIRA Chief Executive
Megan Main has been appointed the new Chief Executive at the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) and will commence in the role 12 October 2026.
What we heard during the Workers Compensation Reform consultation process
A summary report and individual stakeholder submissions from consultation on the 2026 Workers Compensation Regulation, Guidelines and supporting materials are now available. The consultation was undertaken jointly by the Department of Customer Service and SIRA and used it to inform recommendations to the Government for a final position on the Regulation, Guidelines and forms.
We continue to update the Workers Compensation Reform hub with important information and resources and encourage stakeholders to check the SIRA website regularly for the latest updates.
Excluded Provider - Mr Didier Regis Brunet and Gorokan Physio Pty Ltd
On 6 August 2026, SIRA issued a Direction Notice to Mr Didier Regis Brunet (SIRA Approval Number 518) and Gorokan Physio Pty Ltd (ABN 45 125 974 861) trading as Gorokan Physio Solutions, directing that they must not provide any physiotherapy or related services, including administrative services, for the purposes of the workers compensation and motor accident legislation, as defined under section 3(1) of the State Insurance and Care Governance Act 2015.
This Direction applies from 14 August 2026 and remains in force indefinitely.
NSW CTP Scheme Innovation Report 30 June 2026
SIRA has released its latest NSW CTP Scheme Innovation Report, highlighting innovation applications across the scheme and their potential to deliver improved outcomes and economic value.
Reminder - Submissions for the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017 review close next week
A Statutory Review of the Motor Accidents Injuries Act 2017 is currently underway. Public consultation for the review closes Monday 17 August.
