I’m happy to announce the publication of the SIRA Annual Report 2023-24, which was tabled in Parliament last week. The report highlights our key activities and achievements across the year, including new initiatives like the Trauma Support Service which offers support to families affected by road-related fatalities. In addition to our Annual Report, we’ve also recently published our Quarterly Regulatory Report for the period ending 30 September.
In other news, SIRA has appointed Urbis Pty Ltd and Monash University to evaluate the efficacy of the Workplace Rehabilitation Provider service. The research is being undertaken to ensure the service delivers cost-effective solutions and meaningful outcomes for the people who need it.
I’m always proud of the work SIRA does – protecting individuals who depend on the schemes we regulate while holding insurers, employers, healthcare providers and other regulated entities accountable. The value of this work is particularly evident in the more than $10 million in premiums SIRA has recovered from under-insured employers and which will now be reinvested in the Workers Compensation Scheme.
As we head into the final weeks of the year, I’m excited to review the progress we have made in our SIRA2025 strategy and consider how we drive our achievements forward in a new strategy. Together, we’ll ensure our goals for the coming year remain focused on safeguarding and supporting the people of NSW, now and in the future.

Over $10 million in premiums recovered from employers
SIRA has identified 81 employers suspected of being under-insured for workers compensation, primarily due to under-declaring wages.

SIRA is currently undertaking an evaluation to better understand the quality of Workplace Rehabilitation Provider (WRP) services in the Workers Compensation Scheme.

SIRA wants your feedback on proposed minor amendments to the Workers Compensation Guidelines. The consultation is open until Tuesday 3 December 2024.
