SIRA remains committed to providing support for employers and other stakeholders in the NSW personal injury schemes and improving return to work (RTW) outcomes for NSW workers.
SIRA has revised the Guidelines for workplace RTW programs (the Guidelines) to make it easier for employers across NSW to develop and implement compliant and effective RTW programs for their workers.
These Guidelines, are designed to support a culture of recovery at work for people with a work-related injury or illness and to ensure positive outcomes for all stakeholders.
All employers in NSW are required to have a RTW program that details the policies, systems and processes they will use to support and manage workers with a work-related injury or illness.
In addition to the Guidelines, SIRA has also developed a supporting document titled ‘How to comply with the Guidelines for workplace RTW programs’ to help employers comply with their obligations.
Interested parties are now invited to Have Your Say on the draft Guidelines and supporting information by completing the survey or making a submission at the Have Your Say website from February 2 until February 26, 2026.
