Road safety and injury prevention programs

SIRA has an ongoing commitment to fund road safety programs that prevent or reduce injuries from motor accidents and improve safety education. These programs also reduce the cost of road crashes and improve the efficiency of the CTP scheme.

The programs align with the NSW 2026 Road Safety Action Plan, which sets the target to halve road deaths and reduce serious injuries by 30 per cent by 2030. SIRA funds many of these programs via Transport for NSW’s Centre for Road Safety.

SIRA’s funding for the programs aims to benefit priority road user groups including young and disadvantaged drivers, Aboriginal communities, individuals who use vehicles as a workplace, as well as motorcyclists, pedestrians, local councils and community groups.
