Trauma Support Service

SIRA’s trauma support service provides eligible family members with prompt access to psychologists for grief and trauma support if a family member has been seriously injured or died as a result of a motor crash.

The SIRA service is operated through PeopleSense by Altius and can be accessed in the immediate period following a motor crash without requirement for a claim to be made under the compulsory third party (CTP) scheme.

Eligible family members are provided with up to six sessions with a psychologist, to receive grief and trauma support.

Eligible family members may include a parent or other person with parental responsibility, a spouse or partner, a child or stepchild or any other person for whom the person had parental responsibility, a brother, sister, half-brother or half-sister or stepbrother or stepsister.

Appointments are available Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Crisis counselling support is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Additional support may be accessible through a claim under the NSW CTP scheme if the individual meets the eligibility criteria.
