Updates to version 9.1 of the Motor Accident Guidelines
The State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) regularly reviews and updates the Motor Accident Guidelines (the MAGs) to ensure that the CTP Scheme is functioning optimally and that it continues to support the objectives of the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017.
Version 9.1 of the MAGs incorporates a number of changes which respond to amendments following the passage of the Motor Accident Injuries Amendment Bill 2022 through Parliament. This includes changes in terminology with ‘minor injury’ being replaced with ‘threshold injury’ and timeline changes with statutory benefits being extended from 26 weeks to 52 weeks for wholly or mostly at fault and those with a threshold injury. It also includes correcting an error to the reference to the relevant table of claim form content at 4.123 (a) and (b). Version 9.1 also contains necessary updates to Schedule 1E related to premium determinations.
This summary of changes table outlines what has changed from the previous version of the MAGs (version 9), and the rationale for the proposed changes.
