Reforming the self-insurance licensing framework

We conducted a review of our self-insurance licensing framework to improve outcomes for injured people and reduce red tape.

    The State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) conducted a review of its self-insurance licensing framework and engaged PricewaterhouseCoopers to assist. The review aimed to identify and recommend potential regulatory reforms that would improve workers compensation outcomes by creating incentives for self-insurers while reducing regulatory burden.

    SIRA sought stakeholder comment on opportunities to improve key areas of the self-insurance licensing framework.

    • 12 November 2015: Issues paper published
    • 12 November to December 2015: Submissions were open
    • 9 September 2016: PWC review of the self-insurance licensing framework report published.
