Member for Albury, Greg Aplin, recommended today that car owners check their next CTP Green Slip renewal to see the savings achieved by this Government.
“As you know, we have been working to bring down the cost of a Green Slip and the savings are coming through now,” said Mr Aplin.
“The average Green Slip price this year across the Albury Electorate will be $359, down from $471 last year.”
Last year the NSW Government overhauled the old CTP Green Slip Scheme to create a more affordable, lower cost scheme. In addition to lower premiums in 2018, the Government is providing partial refunds to vehicle owners who paid too much in 2017.
Refunds are calculated on a sliding scale with higher refunds for Green Slip renewals late in 2017.
Minister for Finance, Services and Property Victor Dominello said that as a result of the reforms, more than $500,000 will be returned to drivers across the Albury electorate.
“This is double good news for local drivers, who will receive both a saving on their Green Slip and a refund,” Mr Dominello said.
Refunds are being rolled out in waves across NSW, with the Albury Electorate one of the first to receive a refund for cars registered in these postcodes: 2640, 2641, 2642, 2644, 2646, 2647, 2658, 2659, 2660.
Owners can expect to receive a letter or email advising they may be entitled to a refund if they are registered with MyServiceNSW.
The refund will be processed through your MyServiceNSW Account and paid into a bank account of your choice, so make sure you have the BSB and account details with you, along with the password to your existing MyServiceNSW Account. If you do not have a MyServiceNSW Account one can be set up for you or you can do this online.
Please note that this procedure is for cars with private registration. Businesses with less than 50 vehicles and Taxis will receive their refund via post from the end of January to early April 2018.
Not all vehicles are eligible for a refund. Motor cycles and primary producer vehicles are not eligible, however they will receive greater benefits and insurance coverage as a consequence of the reform.
