Workers compensation bulletin - issue 16

In this edition: review of the self-insurance licensing framework consultation, system performance report and launch of our new website.

Review of the self-insurance licensing framework

SIRA’s consultation on the proposed self-insurance licensing framework and tiered supervisory model closes next week on Friday 11 November 2016.

Assisting SIRA with this consultation, PricewaterhouseCoopers developed a report after feedback from the first round of consultation in 2015. The recommendations outlined in this report form the basis of the draft licensing framework.

We appreciate your feedback, please submit your consultation response before 11 November 2016.

System performance report

SIRA recently published its inaugural report into the performance of the workers compensation system.

This is an important first step in understanding whether the system is delivering on its legislative outcomes. The report presents available central measures of the system to the 2014/2015 financial year under our new system performance framework. Learn more

Launch of new SIRA website

SIRA has launched its new website.

Pulling information from the websites of the former Motor Accidents Authority and WorkCover, as well as from NSW Fair Trading (for home building compensation fund regulation), is clear and concise and, most importantly, easy to understand.

Created with our range of customers in mind, the colourful and contemporary site includes a dedicated area for regulatory consultations, a resource library for health professionals and insurers, and state-of-the-art search functionality.

Once fully tested, the SIRA website will replace the websites of the former Motor Accidents Authority and WorkCover.

If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to check it out.
