New SIRA Chief Executive

Adam Dent has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA).

Mr Dent will be joining SIRA from his current role as the Chief Executive Officer of the NSW Trustee & Guardian, where he supports over 35,000 customers annually and manages more than $6bn in client assets.

SIRA Chair, Trevor Matthews has welcomed Mr Dent’s appointment.

“Adam Dent brings extensive leadership experience across public, private and not-for-profit organisations. Having spent much of his career focused on helping people who are vulnerable or experiencing difficult times, Adam is a great fit for SIRA. I look forward to welcoming him on board in July,” Mr Matthews said.

“The SIRA Board would like to express its sincere appreciation to Carmel Donnelly for her outstanding leadership over the last four years. She has been instrumental in establishing SIRA as a customer-focused regulator and steering the agency in a complex landscape.”

Ms Donnelly is moving to a new role as Chair of the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) on 1 July 2021. Her last day at SIRA will be Wednesday 9 June.

Mr Dent takes up the SIRA Chief Executive role on Monday 5 July 2021. Ms Theresa Fairman, Executive Director, Strategy and Governance, and Chief Customer Officer, will be SIRA’s acting Chief Executive in the transition period.
