Motor Accidents Guidelines - Version 5 published on the SIRA website

The Motor Accident Guidelines – Version 5 has been published. These guidelines took effect from 20 December 2019.

You can download a copy of the guidelines from the SIRA website.

Guidance notes available on the SIRA website

Guidance notes are sometimes developed by SIRA to assist insurers in understanding how to apply certain parts of the legislation, regulations or guidelines. Guidance notes are not a legislative instrument and these are published on the SIRA website so stakeholders can understand the guidance provided to insurers.

We have published five guidance notes for the CTP scheme on our website. You can find these under the section titled: 4. Guidance Notes for insurers.

CTP Animation: How to use the CTP online claims submission

The first video of SIRA’s animation series explains how to lodge a claim for personal injury benefits using our CTP online claims submission. This 2-minute video tells the story of Alex, who has been injured in a crash and needs support while he gets better.

CTP Assist directs customers to this animation when they enquire about how to make a personal injury claim. The animations are also on the SIRA website along with fact sheets and other resources to help the public, motorists, injured people and their families be aware of what the CTP scheme offers and what help is available when someone gets injured or a loved one is fatally injured after a motor accident.

We will continue to promote these animations throughout the year and you can find the full series on the SIRA YouTube page to share with your networks.

Have your say: CTP arrangements for the point to point industry

We are seeking feedback from industry stakeholders on how CTP premiums should be calculated for the point to point industry. Point to point refers to transport services that can take customers on the route they choose at the time that suits them for a fare. For example, taxis, hire cars or rideshare.

You can read our options paper outlining five possible CTP arrangements and make a submission by visiting the online consultation page on the SIRA website.

Submissions close on Friday 24 January 2020.
