What is it about?
The Motor Accidents Compensation Regulation 2020 (the proposed Regulation) repeals and remakes the Motor Accidents Compensation Regulation 2015, which is due for automatic repeal on 1 September 2020. The object of the proposed Regulation is to support the operation of the Motor Accidents Compensation Act 1999 and the 1999 Compulsory Third-Party insurance scheme.

Milestones
14 April 2020 - Motor Accidents Compensation Regulation 2020 (proposed Regulation) and Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) is open for public consultation.
11 May 2020 – Public consultation process closes. All comments and submissions must be received by 5pm, Monday 11 May 2020.
1 September 2020 – Motor Accidents Compensation Regulation 2015 is due for automatic repeal under the section 10 of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1989.
21 August 2020 - SIRA consulted with stakeholders to support an update to the Motor Accidents Compensation Regulation 2020; effective 1 September 2020.
