Allied health professionals

There are five training courses available for health professionals working in the NSW workers compensation system:

1. Providing allied health services in the NSW workers compensation system

This three-part online training course prepares allied health practitioners planning to work in the NSW workers compensation system.

  • Part 1: Provides an overview of the NSW workers compensation system for allied health practitioners
  • Part 2: Focuses on the five principles of the Clinical framework for the delivery of health services
  • Part 3: Provides further detail on the requirements to practice in the NSW workers compensation system, including successful completion of the allied health recovery request.

Before delivering services in the NSW workers compensation system, all physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, accredited exercise physiologists, psychologists, appropriately qualified counsellors and social workers must:

  • satisfactorily complete this three-part online training program, and
  • apply for and receive confirmation of their SIRA workers compensation approval.

Duration:

  • Part 1 takes around 90 minutes to complete.
  • Part 2 takes around 90 minutes to complete.
  • Part 3 will take up to three hours to complete. It includes the submission of a completed allied health recovery request (AHRR) form.

The online training program is administered by the Personal Injury Education Foundation (PIEF). Access the training via the SIRA AHP NSW Learning Portal.
